What is Humanism anyway?
Humanism is a collection of Greek and Roman teachings that were undertaken by Italian scholars that are now known as Humanists. This idea developed during the fourteenth and fifteenth century and is considered a big part of the Renaissance. Important centers of humanism were located in Florence, Ferrara, Mantua, Naples, Rome, Urbino, and Venice.
Many humanists were people of the church, which is shocking since the teachings of humanism contrast many church teachings. While humanism teachers center around individual accomplishment, most churches instill the belief that individuality and achievement are relatively unimportant.
