Thomas Aquinas was one of the best philosophers of the Renaissance era. He was a Dominican priest. He lived a nice and easier life up until when he wanted to be a Dominican priest. When his parents found out they had him captured and held him captive for two years. After they realized that they could not change his feelings toward being a priest they let him escape.
He then went to Rome to become a priest. He refused several offers of high importance in the Catholic church and a few of them came directly from the Pope himself.
He was a very good priest and was used widely by the Dominican order. He was a preacher, teacher, and book writer. He was an avid speaker and was always on the move. He lived mostly in Paris, Naples, and Rome.
When Thomas was praying in Rome in his later years he spoke to God. God asked him what do you want from me. All Thomas said was I want you. Nobody knows what was said after that. But he never spoke of it and was significantly changed by what was said.
